Week 1
1. The question that we investigated in this lab was, "What would you like your future classroom to look like?" While designing our classrooms some other questions we thought about were the resources that we wanted to provide students, what we valued as a future educator, and something that makes it unique to us such as a favorite color.
2. To investigate the question of what we would like our future classroom to look like, we were paired into groups. In these groups, we were given a piece of paper to model what we would like our classroom to look like. We were able to brainstorm with each other about what we would like in our future classroom before modeling it on a piece of paper and sharing our ideas with the class.
3. I figured out through our question and investigation an idea of what my future classroom would look like and what I would like to include in it. I was able to figure out that I would like my desks arranged in groups for collaboration among students with different forms of seating around the tables. This way, students can use what works best for their learning. I also figured out that I would like a place in my room for students to go to take a break if they are needing one. Here, I will have comfortable seating with fidgets. I also figured out that I would really like multiple windows in my classroom as well to promote learning.
4. Remaining questions: How do I want to organize school supplies in my future classroom?
Do I want a seating arrangement in my future classroom and how will I make this and how often will I change it?
What kinds of decorations do I want in my future classroom?
Great blog post! I also think about what I am going to do for a seating arrangement in my future classroom all the time. Sometimes I think it would be beneficial to not have a seating chart to allow for some freedom, but then I think that could end in chaos.
ReplyDeleteHi Abby, I enjoyed reading your post! I thought that this was such a great way to get to know our classmates and get us thinking about what we liked in a classroom. I found that it put into perspective the values I have as an educator and how that plays into the setup of my classroom. I also am thinking about how I want my seating arrangement to be and the flexible seating that I want to offer my students.
